I like the idea of an insane GT car, plus it would also be a proper replacement for the SLS AMG as well. A larger V12 AMG GT if you will.

I personally always preferred the SLR over the SLS however, I don’t think McLaren would be interested this time around ...

I too wish for a new big Mercedes GT. I also wish for a new big Jag GT, in the vein of the XK of yore. I remember there being some rumblings when the F-Type came out that there would be a stretched 2+2 GT based off the F-Type to replace the XK, but I’ve heard nothing else since.

I remember hearing something like that too only that it would essentially be an XJ coupe and compete with the S class coupe. Either way, I want more GT cars!

So 1000 horsepower GT? The SLR was about the fastest thing of the day. I’d be down for that.

Well, they can get over 600 hp out of a 4.0L V8. So at least 900 from a 6.0L V12 right? And that also puts it far enough from the S65 and SL65 models to justify it.

Is kinda strange how Mercedes goes for less powerful (for their time) rivals each time they introduce a new sport car. The SLR went against the 599 and the Murcielago, the SLS went against the 458 and the Gallardo instead of the Aventador and F12, and now the AMG GT is chasing cars like the 911, F-Type R/SVR and the California T, instead of the 488 and the Huracán

There must be more money to be made in that market.

Yeah but at least it made sense there. It was a Super GT car, not a sports car. Now the AMG GT should probably have a stick

It sort of made sense, but the things are goddam 5 speeds! It seems wrong for there to not even be the option

Which is what the SL65 should be going after, but that thing weighs almost as much as a Hellcat.

Yeah, I think Mercedes is selling itself short, being too conservative with its flagship.

The GT is the sporty one, the S65 is the luxury GT, and the SLC is the little roadster. So what’s the SL series for but a compromise of all 3?

I think you’re on to something with the SL65 going after the F12 as a Super GT. A flagship needs to be more remarkable.
